Congrats to my baby brother Josiah on his mission call. He is headed to the Oregon Eugene Mission on May 28th. We are super excited for him and proud of his decision to serve the Lord. I do want to ask for some words of encouragement from those of you who have served stateside. I know your experiences were amazing and would like to share some of them with my little bro. Also, if anyone has any tidbits on Eugene, let me know. Again, congrats Josiah!

Congrats to your brother!! One of my very best friends served in Eugene and she absolutely LOVED it. You can even go to her blog through mine if you want to ask her directly about it, it's "Spence and Melynn". Anyway, as far as serving stateside, I've heard the quote that "missionaries that serve foreign learn the language/culture really well...missionaries that serve stateside learn the Gospel really well." I'm not sure about the foreign part of that because I've never served foreign, but I do know that there is SO much work to do be done here in the states and you really DO learn the Gospel so well in your native tongue which you will use forever! Also, returning to your mission is so much more affordable and accessable, which is something I value quite a bit. He'll find the reasons for his call to Oregon. I'd just pray for insight and guidance in the process. Serving a mission is a HUGE privilege and remarkable experience no matter where you go. Ha, there's my disertation! sorry. Love ya!
Hey, Congrats to Josiah. I have two aunts and uncles who are serving as couple missionaries in Eugene. They absolutely love it and actually requested that mission out of any mission in the church. They love the people and have said great things about the members. One aunt is in the mission office and the other is serving along the coast in a gorgeous area.
There was also a German Elder in my mission boundaries who was serving in Eugene and loved it. About serving stateside, it will be such a blessing to have the support of the members and strong stakes and wards. If Josiah wants to talk to my aunt I could get you her number.
P.S. I was sad to see motivated moms go but I will say that it's hard to keep up with two blogs. I'm excited to see continued updates.
