I have recently discovered the world of coupons. I am having a class at my house on October 8th at 7:00pm if anyone is interested. In the mean time check out www.grocerysmarts.com and use the passport g84ckr. It is a great website that lines up the stores ads with coupons that are online and in the newspapers. The trick isn't about having coupons for items, it's having coupons for items that are on sale! Anyway, today I bought the following items. I would have you all guess how much I spent but you won't get it right. So, if I had bought all of these items at full price I would have spent $150.00. 1 Box of Capri Suns
4 Dawn Dish Soap
6 Boxes of fruit snacks or fruit roll-ups
8 Warm Delights
2 Boxes Chex Mix Granola Bars
9 Boxes of Cereal (the good kind ie. Kix, Cinn. Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cherrios, Lucky Charms, and Fruity Cherrios)
3 Boxes of Nature Valley Fruit and Nut Granola Bars
4 Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
2 Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
4 Boxes Toaster Strudels
43 items total!
Instead of the $150.00, I actually spent $45.06 that is a savings of $104.94 WOW! I'd say it was worth the $2.00 I spent on newspapers this week. (Yes, I get 4 Sunday papers)
Not included in the picture were 3 Tide Laundry Detergents. Full price would have been $57.87 I paid $32.97. Savings of $24.90.
If I had bought Tide at Sam's Club it would have been 11.4 cents per oz. I got it for 10.9 cents per oz. Still cheaper!
Anyway, I have found that I am really able to stock up on items we eat and use. We now have a yummy food storage. Nothing against wheat (because I've got it) but it doesn't sound as good as a granola bar. Even if you are starving! Hope this helps.

Wow! I am very impressed. That is a huge savings. I would love to know more about it. I have mutual on the 8th but maybe we can talk about it another time. I think the 10th sounds great to hang out. Let's plan on it. Sorry for all the phone tag (and on your message I meant it is really annoying on our part). But leave it to good old blogs to communicate. By the way I loved the video of Talmage walking! He is getting so big!
I think it's great that your doing the coupon thing. I would totally get into it if I had more time...maybe when Adam finishes school and I stop working. Grocery's are so expensive in HI. 5$ for a gallon of milk-and that's on sale! 1.50$ for a can of tomato soup.(cheapest brand) Shipping really drives the cost up here.
Urg, I need the passport for MD. Know anyone that has it? By the way did my friend Lori ever get in contact with you about running the Wasatch Back? I gave her your info. Let me know, I would love it if you joined us.
You're my hero. Can you web cam your class? :) Those are awesome savings and all I can say is that I know whose house I'm heading to after a natural disaster (I might have some ramen and peanut butter to contribute).
Did you go to Albertsons? I went there today and spent 50 bucks and saved 48. I was pretty proud! I'm just starting to get into the coupon thing, so if you have any tips please share!!
i am so glad you blogged about this. a few days ago i saw something on tv about coupons that made me want to get into using them. seeing your savings i am totally going to do it.
Jon and I love coupons!! We have used them our whole marriage (all 9 months of it), but not like you do. I'm coming on Wed. Leeah told me about it and I've been planning on it ever since. I can't believe how much you saved. You know what else I can't believe? I can't believe how big Talmage is. He's so handsome! See you tomorrow.
AWESOME! I am going to try to come tomorrow. You are the bomb!
