Question?

For Christmas my in-laws gave us tickets to Hawaii.  We are scheduled to go May 29- June 6.  I am due June 26th.  So, my question is, have any of you ever traveled, specifically flown, that late in your pregnancy.  I was under the impression that the airlines had rules about flying that late and so figured I was out of luck.  Today I learned that they actually can't discriminate against you flying.  Women look so different while pregnant, who's to say how far along you really are.  Maybe you are returning home to Hawaii to have the baby.  Anyway, I obviously wouldn't go if there was a huge risk, or if I was already showing signs of early labor.  The way it went with Talmage,  I didn't ever progress until the pitocin was in my blood.  So... what's your take?  Talmage would be coming with, which is mainly why I would be so sad to miss out.

Hooray for Hawaii! So, I moved to Utah 1.5 months before I had Kate, and I thought THAT was cutting it close! :) My Dr. had to write a note (although, now that I think about it, nobody wanted to see it) and my Dr. was nervous about me flying until she knew I had a dr. here in Utah. So, I would suggest that you: A)know if an OBGYN in Hawaii JUST IN CASE and B) have your Dr. give you your cover sheet giving your medical information and history in your pregnancy (blood type, weight charting, ya know, that page they write on every time). You are brave though, but I certainly wouldn't want to miss out on Hawaii either! Chances are you'll be a-ok but you wanna be sure you have back up in case the pressure in the plane makes you go into labor! :) Although I can only think of a very few times when that has happened in all history...So...there ya go! But wow that sounds so fun!!!

I just asked my dr. about this a few weeks before Gunner was born. He said that I could fly (to Utah) if I wanted to, but to realize that I might just have my baby somewhere else. My only fear would be going into labor on the plane. I think anything else wouldn't be that bad- Oh, and having to buy another carseat in Hawaii :)Sounds like fun though! Keep us posted.

You should go! I flew to Utah 3 weeks from my due date with Lucy. I took a doctors note but nobody cared to see it. The hardest part was holding an almost two year old on my lap and being 9 months pregnant. Not a fun flight, but it was for Ben's Brother's wedding, and I wasn't about to miss that. Have fun!

We're kind of in that same situation with my brother's wedding. He's trying to accommodate my ever growing belly, but I'd rather fly out there and cut it close than take a 2 week old with me. I'm curious to see what your dr says as I won't see mine for a while to ask her.

Everyone has there own views about this, so do what you feel is most comfortable. I would definately talk to your doctor about it. What an opportunity with Talmage. I bet everything will be just fine.

I went to Hawaii when I was six months pregnant with Tanner...it was fun but people were weird about it...that was ten years ago, though, this is a new generation! As long as you aren't too uncomfortable, and as long as you are open to delivering in Hawaii you will have a blast! I wouldn't let pregnancy stop you :) jess g

Hmmm, that's a hard one. It seems like you'd be fine but it's also cutting it close. You're a good sport to want to get in a swimsuit 8 1/2 months pregnant--I'm too prideful or sheepish or something to do that!

You are a brave one. It is a long flight (not that I have ever been to Hawaii) Follow your gut, and if your gut tells you it will be okay- DO IT! How fun
