First for everything...

and this was our first trip with Talmage to the ER.  Before you panic, he's fine and it really wasn't a big deal.  Or at least it didn't turn out to be.  We were blessed.  Talmage got ahold of two little watch batteries and I guess put one in his mouth.  He started to cough and said, "Mom I swallowed it".  I asked him what it was and he showed me the other battery.  I called poison control and they told me he would need an X-ray to make sure it wasn't stuck in his esophagus.  If it were stuck it could arc and burn him.

We went to the ER and he was so brave.  The X-ray showed the battery in his stomach.  With that they sent us home with a follow-up X-ray for the next day to ensure it was moving.  IF it had been in his throat they probably would have done some procedure to get it out.  Now we watch the poop and keep getting x-rays til we know it's out.  The film today showed it in his GI tract so we are headed in the right direction.  Certainly an adventure and not exactly how I wanted to spend my morning.

Moral of the story, throw the little things away.  It's not worth it.
