Finally the post you've all been waiting for. Our little guys made his debut on February 10, 2011 at 3:12 pm. We are so grateful that he is healthy. We are taking it all in stride and enjoying Brandon being around to help. Here are some photos and details to document.
We had to be at the hospital at 7:00am. Here's the fully pregnant picture. I don't know what I was thinking but I was hoping for noon as his arrival time. I have now learned that when you are starting at a dilation of 2 it's not smart to make any plans. I was started on pitocin by 8:00am and quickly started to contract and dilate (or so I thought). My Dr. broke my water at 9:15am. While breaking my water he felt the baby's head and he had an arm and hand on top of his head. My Dr. then proceeded to try to move his hand off of his head. I learned then that if he didn't move it out of the way it was a certain cesarean. I endured what I had to in hopes of his hand moving. He got it more to the side of his head and was hopeful that he would move it on his own as contractions got stronger. Luckily the next time I was checked they couldn't feel his hand. I got an epidural around 10:30am and asked for it to be light. I continued to feel each contraction but the edge was taken off. It was perfect. At noon my nurse (who was very new) checked me and guessed an 8. We got all excited and geared up to go. I could live with 12:30. Brandon got serious about choosing a name. The Dr. came in shortly after 12:30 and said I was a 5. Whoa, major setback. At least we were having a good discussion about names. By then I was on the max dose of Pitocin and my contractions had really slowed down. I was going nowhere. After being checked the Dr. placed a vaginal monitor so they could better monitor contractions and up the Pitocin. At the same time I was feeling a bit too numb and asked the Anesthesiologist to back off the epidural. BAD combination. My contractions started to crank and I could feel it all. I was sure things were ripping inside of me. I got back to a comfortable numbness and was checked. It was 2:45 and I was a 10 and ready to go.
By the time the Dr. got there I was feeling really calm and relaxed. It might be because I really enjoy the pushing part. I pushed 3 times during contraction 1 then didn't push at all during contraction 2 and then he came out while pushing on contraction 3. It went great. I didn't tear (thanks to my Dr. not having me push during the second contraction so he could stretch the skin). I even touched his head before he came out. It was neat.
Our initial impression was that he looked like Talmage and then he started to look more like Adeline and now he is totally his own little person. He is definitely from our mold but has his own qualities. He has big hands, long feet and toes. His hair is dark and short and fuzzy.
About an hour prior to his arrival we settled on his name.
Rigdon Rupp Burt weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. Our biggest baby yet. We haven't had one in the 7 lbs. He is beautiful and healthy.
Proud Dad. Brandon has been amazing through this whole pregnancy, labor, and the days following. Unfortunately my reality is that he goes back to work tomorrow. We've survived because of him.
Immediately following. He looks super pale but now he's the tannest member of our family.
Grandma Burt
Grandma Rupp
Dad got to bathe him and take good care of him in the nursery.

Our family of 5! HOLY CRAP, that's all I can say! We our outnumbered and I am WAY outnumbered.

He is beautiful! Love the name and glad all went well! Congrats!
He really is so precious. My first thought is that he is very masculine looking (which is good). You all look great- especially you. I feel like being mad at you but I'm not:) Call if you need to chat, but you also might find that it is hard to find a minute to call anyone. Best wishes.
Sorry. One more thing... isn't it crazy how big your family starts to look in pictures when there are 5 of you? Love it. Can't wait to hear more.
Rigdon is gorgeous! Glad to hear everyone is happy and healthy!
Congratulations!! Aaron and I looked at Rigdon's pictures this morning and both agreed that once again, you guys did great! :) (And I love his name, too!) Hope all is well.
Congrats Marinda!! I saw your mom on Sunday and in proud grandma fashion she showed me a cute pic of your little guy :) Good luck with having 3 I'm sure it is tough but you can do it!
Congrats you guys! That's crazy to think that you have 3 kids now! But way exciting...he's a doll!
I can't get over how adorable he is! And you look so good! Congrats on the newest addition :)
We've been waiting. Congrats!! He is so precious! Glad everything went so well. I hope it can go smoothly for us too. Love you all.
He looks absolutely perfect! So glad everything went well! Good luck with Brandon going back to work - I've already told Braden I'll probably bawl when that time comes... :) Congrats!
Marinda, he is so perfect! You look so beautiful in the hospital...so amazing! Congratulations on your darling little boy. I love the name you chose!
Congratulations Marinda! He is so cute and you look amazing right after giving birth. Good luck with three!
I am so glad I checked your blog. I finally get to see Rigdon! I am so sick of being sick and can hardly wait to be rid of this yucky guck going on in the family so I can come meet and hold this little guy. I bet he has already changed so much! How are you holding up...I am sure you are doing amazing at having 3 kids, unlike I who was questioning why the Lord thought I could do this mothering thing!
